As I mentioned in a prior post, in the past, Valentine’s Day was not an easy holiday for me. One year, right before V-Day, I came upon a card that had an image of the Bourgeureau painting, The Abduction of Psyche pictured here. When I first saw this image I began to cry. I wanted so badly to rest into someone like that… to be able to surrender in loving trust…
It lead me to write this passage in my journal. I share it with you in case it resonates with anyone else out there.
And, dear ones, I’m happy to report that the story ends with the Moon Cowboy finding his way to the girl. My husband and I were married last September.
Please, keep your hearts open. We can never know when love is going to find us, under the moon, under the stars, it will find you.
Sinewy Wings
He sweeps her up in his sinewy wings and carries her up to the star covered night. Gently he rests her upon a moonbeam and slowly begins to unravel all her secret places until her breath is deep and she is beyond naked in that infinite place of ecstasy that she craves from the deepest places of her being.
But this is not real. It is but a dream. A short respite from her waking life. One that finds her alone in her huge empty bed. And she shutters her eyes and tries to find her way back to her Moon Cowboy lover and wonders if he is screaming her name through the fog covered mist that separates their worlds in a cruel twist of fate.
What she cannot see is it is not cruel at all. Instead he is a gift sent to revive the remnants of love still alive in her heart. Because she came here to meet him in the flesh this time round. And they will soar together into the beautiful crimson sky and unravel each other again and again until the lonely is banished forever this time.
And all she must do is release her belief in the illusion that she is not enough for such love. For she is due for the Moon Cowboy with the sinewy wings. And he is waiting for her to be ready for him. He is craving her touch and the warmth of her skin. But until then he will be waiting on a moonbeam for his love. And only visit her when the veil is so thin that he can pass through it to see her again.
